 When it comes to the topic of trends in advertisements, a brand’s story and personality has become all the rage. More and more brands are utilizing the tool of storytelling to build on their identity. Consumers today have a direct impact on the decision of advertisers. People want to see their causes addressed, be it about race, gender, social stigmas, political, geographical or various others they connect to brands that reflect on society. Carefully articulating your message to your audience is as important as it has ever been.

 

The aim of this course is to help you brainstorm more effectively, make your ideation more crisp, impactful and clear regarding your message. We will be discussing the history of advertising in television and it’s transition to the digital age, the use of visual storytelling to communicate your message, the effective use of emotion and empathy in your writing, reimagining the consumer as partner in todays environment and how advertising reflects the society.

 

We will also be analyzing the use of comic strips, shot breakdowns of various impactful advertisements that have addressed social issues, state advertising and the role of animals in advertising

 

This beginners to intermediate level course is suitable for marketing professionals, ad filmmakers and media enthusiasts.

 

About the facilitator:

Latha Menon is a leading ad and documentary filmmaker in India. After completing

Mass Communication at Sophia’s, Mumbai, she worked in ad firms before  setting up her own production house, Iris Films. Latha has created commercials for a range of clients that include brands such as Arokya, Fanta, Muthoot and Britannia. She has over 150 ads and many other short form films to her  credit.
